
Women's Hoops to Host Rhode Island in Opener

Syracuse defeated Rhode Island, 57-54, in its 2015-16 season opener
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's basketball team will open its 2016-17 campaign against Rhode Island on Friday, Nov. 11 in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The season opener will be Military Appreciation Day and Staff Appreciation Day. More details about the two promotions will be available closer to the date of the game on Cuse.com.
In addition, the Orange men's basketball team will also open its regular season against in-state foe Colgate on Friday, Nov. 11 in the Carrier Dome. The game time is still to be determined.
Syracuse opened its 2015-16 season at Rhode Island. Down 46-41 at the end of the third quarter, the Orange outscored the Rams, 16-8, in the fourth quarter to notch the victory. Alexis Peterson set the school single-game record with 10 steals against Rhode Island, as well.
The SU women's basketball team is coming off its best season in its history, advancing all the way to the 2016 national final. Syracuse set program records with five wins against nationally-ranked foes, 13 conference victories, 23 regular-season wins, and 30 overall victories.
