Orange Ranked Fourth in Latest Poll, Welcome #7 Friday

After splitting their weekend matchups with then No. 5 North Carolina and Penn, the Syracuse field hockey team fell to No. 4 in this week's NFHCA Poll, in a tightly packed bunch at the top.
UConn (860 points, 14 first place votes) took over the No. 1 spot, while North Carolina (859 points, 18 first place votes)Â rose to No. 2. Duke (848 points, 10 first place votes)sits in third, one spot ahead of the Orange (842 points, five first place votes), with Penn State (718 points) rounding out the top-five.
Syracuse's next opponent Louisville checks in seventh overall, serving as the fourth ranked ACC team. All-seven teams from the conference are ranked for the 40th-straight week.

The Orange's tough schedule will continue, as six of the team's nine games have already come against ranked opponents, but contests with the Cardinals, No. 3 Duke, No. 12 Virginia and No. 13 Boston University remain on the schedule before beginning ACC Tournament play.
Syracuse has now been ranked in 93-straight polls, including a top-10 ranking in 21 consecutive polls.
Syracuse's game with Louisville will be on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The game will be SU Employee Appreciation Day and also be the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Appreciation Day. Friday's game will be televised on ACC Network Extra. The Orange will also have a road contest this weekend, traveling to Bucknell on Sunday.
