SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse dropped one spot to No. 3 in this week's men's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Orange had their eight-match winning streak to start the season snapped at Notre Dame last weekend. The Fighting Irish moved up one spot to No. 2.
Â
Four of the top five teams in the nation are from the ACC. North Carolina, Syracuse's opponent on Friday night at the SU Soccer Stadium, climbed to No. 4, while Clemson is No. 5. The Orange will take on the Tigers in South Carolina on Oct. 21.
Â
Syracuse is No. 6 in this week's Soccer America poll, and No. 3 in both the College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com rankings.
Â
Admission to Friday night's match between the Orange and Tar Heels is free of charge. It will be a rematch of last year's ACC Tournament quarterfinal which was decided by penalty kicks. Syracuse won the shootout, 4-3, and went on to claim its first ACC Championship.
