Callahan Selected in Second Round
LOS ANGELES – Syracuse sophomore Miles Robinson was the No. 2 overall selection by Atlanta United in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, becoming the highest draft pick in program history. In addition, senior Liam Callahan was taken in the second round as the 24th overall pick by the Colorado Rapids. It marks the third consecutive year that a member of the Orange has been drafted in the first round.

Robinson had a breakout season in 2016. He was a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Award, which is the highest honor in collegiate soccer. Robinson earned NSCAA All-America First Team honors and was an All-South Region First Team honoree. He was voted the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-ACC selection. In addition, Robinson was a member of the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team for the 2016 Four Nations Tournament.

In 2016, Robinson started all 17 games in which he played on defense and helped the Orange record 10 shutouts. He posted a career-high nine points on four goals and one assist. Robinson registered a personal-best five points in Syracuse's win against St. John's on two goals and an assist.

During his two seasons at Syracuse, Robinson started all 42 matches in which he played and helped the Orange to 19 shutouts. He had four goals in both 2015 and 2016 and posted 17 points in his career.

Callahan started 18 of the 19 matches in which he played in 2016 in the midfield. He had two goals and one assist for five points. The two-time team captain played three seasons for the Orange. In his Syracuse career, he played in 61 matches, making 59 starts, and finished with 18 points on three goals and 12 assists. Callahan recorded a career-high 11 points on one goal and nine assists in 2015. He tied for third in the ACC and 21st in the nation in assists.

The first two rounds of this year's draft were held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles on Friday, Jan. 13 and featured 44 picks by the league's 22 teams. The third and fourth round will be conducted via teleconference on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
