Â
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange open a three-game road trip when they take on Coastal Carolina in the Carolinas Challenge on Dec. 17 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game can be heard on Syracuse IMG Radio Network with Brian Higgins ('04) on the call.
Syracuse sits at a perfect 10-0 on the season after topping Drexel 72-62 on Dec. 9. The Orange are one of three undefeated teams remaining in the ACC, joined by Florida State and Louisville, and are one of 11 unbeaten teams left in the nation. Just six NCAA Division I teams have eclipsed the 10-win mark this season. Two Orange, Miranda Drummond (18.9) and Tiana Mangakahia (16.4) are averaging double-digit outings this season while three Orange Digna Strautmane (8.5), Drummond (7.6) and Gabrielle Cooper (6.3) are averaging at least 5.0 rebounds per game thus far in the 2017-18 campaign.
The Chanticleers hold a 5-4 record thus far, most recently coming off a pair of wins at home against Fort Wayne and North Carolina Central. Coastal Carolina is led by senior Jas Adams and sophomore DJ Williams who are both averaging double-digit outings every game. The pair combine for 55 percent of the Chanticleers' scoring this season. Coastal has only faced one other power five school, taking a 55-47 loss to Nebraska in the San Juan Shootout on Nov. 24.
SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting in Syracuse program history between the Orange and the Chanticleers. 'Cuse has squared-off with a team from the Carolinas 40 times, boasting a 23-17 record in those 40 outings. Most recently, the Orange defeated North Carolina in the 2017 ACC Tournament before falling to Duke. Syracuse posted a 5-2 record in 2016 vs. teams from North and South Carolina.
ACCOLADES AND HONORS
As the 10-0 record indicates, the 2017-18 Orange roster is packed with talent. Several Syracuse players have received recognition for their efforts over the past few weeks.

Â
Mangakahia was named NetScouts Basketball International Player of the Week following a week where she averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 assists and 2.5 steals against Colgate and Drexel. She shot 50 percent from the field against Colgate.
