Top Five Teams Collide When Orange Face No. 1 Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. --Â No. 5/4 Syracuse and No. 1/1 Maryland put their undefeated records on the line when they meet in College Park, Md. on Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. Syracuse has won seven games to start the season, while the Terrapins are 5-0.

Fans can watch Saturday's game on the Big Ten Network. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN 1200 AM and on Cuse.com.

ORANGE VS. NO. 1
Syracuse will face the top-ranked team in the nation for the 21st time. The Orange have an all-time record of 1-20 in those games. Syracuse's only win against the No. 1 team came in the 2012 NCAA Tournament semifinals. The Orange trailed Florida by seven with 17:15 to play in regulation before rallying to defeat the Gators, 14-13 in double overtime.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Saturday's game against Maryland is the first of a three-game road trip for the Orange. Syracuse will play at No. 3 Florida on Tuesday before taking on Harvard at Rollins College on Saturday, March 18. The Orange have only three home games remaining this season.

SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
Maryland defeated Boston College, 21-13, on Wednesday to improve its record to 5-0. The Terrapins took over the No. 1 spot in both the coaches and Cascade media polls after defeating defending national champion North Carolina, 13-10, on Feb. 25.

Caroline Wannen and Zoe Stukenberg lead a balanced offense for Maryland. Wannen has 21 points (15g, 6a) this season, while Stukenberg is right behind with 20 points (15g, 5a). Megan Whittle has added 14 goals, while Jen Giles leads the team with seven assists.

Megan Taylor has started all five games in goal for Maryland. She has an 8.45 goals-against average and a .529 save percentage.

THE SERIES
Saturday's game is a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament semifinal and the 22nd all-time meeting between the two schools. Maryland has won 20 of the 21 previous meetings. The Orange's only win against the Terrapins came in 2012 when Syracuse recorded a 10-9 victory, snapping Maryland's 36-game home winning streak.
