First Varsity Eight Earns ACC Crew of the Week

Marks the second time the crew has won the award this year
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second time this year, the Syracuse women's rowing first varsity eight boat has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week, as announced on Tuesday morning.
It marks the first time since the Orange have joined the conference that they collected this honor more than once in the same season.
The Syracuse first varsity eight boat defeated No. 15 Harvard and Dartmouth on April 15 on Fish Creek in Saratoga, N.Y. With its victory against Harvard, the crew collected the O'Leary Cup for the second straight year and only the third time in program history. It marked the first time the team had won the trophy in consecutive seasons.
Sophomore coxswain Rebecca Spraggins, sophomore Lauren Richards, senior Alexandra Gill, senior Harriet Taylor, sophomore Rachael Caldwell, senior Shannon McCann, freshman Lucy Pearce, senior Saydee McQuay, and junior Ashley Johnson comprised the boat.
The Orange are back in action on Saturday morning at the Clemson Invite on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.
