SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men's soccer team has announced it will tour Spain in the summer of 2018 in the first overseas trip in Ian McIntyre's tenure as head coach. The Orange plan to play three matches and attend two professional matches during the trip.
Â
"An international tour is always a special experience for a team and each individual student-athlete," McIntyre said.
Â
Fans can support the program's fundraising efforts for the trip at the team's fifth annual Benefit Auction, which is set for Friday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Oncenter in downtown Syracuse. Tickets for the event are $40 per person and include heavy hors d'oeuvres and complimentary beer and wine. Parking is also included and is conveniently located on site. To purchase tickets, visit SU Men's Soccer Benefit Auction.
Â
In addition to the soccer matches, the team's tentative itinerary includes visits to Picasso Museum, the historic Gothic Quarter and the Old Port in Barcelona, and the Royal Palace, Royal Opera House and the Moorish Ruins in Madrid.
Â
The NCAA allows teams to take a foreign trip every four years. That allows each student-athlete an opportunity to travel during his/her time in college.
