Orange Come Up Short at Bemidji State
9/30/2017 6:54:00 PM | Ice Hockey
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Syracuse Orange (0-1-1) notched 26 shots on goal but could not find the back of the net as the Bemidji State Beavers (1-0-1) took game two of the series, 5-0, on Saturday. Senior Alysha Burriss paced the Orange with six shots on the afternoon.
"Bemidji dominated us in every category today from start to finish," said head coach Paul Flanagan. "We have a lot of work to do between now and next Friday. We need to regroup and get ready for Wisconsin."
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
Bemidji State senior Emma Terres posted two consecutive goals to open scoring for the Beavers in the first period of play. Support from the underclassmen powered the Beavers offense with goals by two sophomores and a freshman.
The Syracuse defense pitched in when it could, out-blocking the Beavers 12-7, while senior goalie Abbey Miller tallied 31 saves on the night. The Orange won the face-off battle, 30-26, but could not convert on their scoring opportunities, despite the 26-shot effort.
UP NEXT
The Orange return home for a nine-game home stand, starting with a two-game set against National Runner-Up Wisconsin on Oct. 6 and 7. Admission to all home games is free.
