Syracuse assistant coach Kelly Lawrence shines in United Soccer Coaches Program
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Syracuse assistant women's soccer coach Kelly Lawrence continues to shine in the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program, most recently attending the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia, Pa. from Jan. 17-21.
"It was a really great opportunity to network and be around some of the best in the business," said Lawrence. "Listening to other strong leaders, especially strong female leaders who have been where I'm at right now, was awesome because it gives you the confidence to know that you can do it."
The 30 Under 30 program is designed for a special group of young coaches who want to lead the way in developing soccer players and enhancing the game. Launched in 2013, the 30 under 30 program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few up-and-comers who have made soccer coaching their career of choice.
"The great thing about this program is that it is what we are going to make of it," said Lawrence. "I just want to apply everything that I am learning right now. I want to help my student-athletes so, the more knowledge that I gain and can communicate out, the better we will be as a program."
Through this opportunity Lawrence received an educational scholarship which includes recognition on UnitedSoccerCoaches.org and at the 2019 Convention as well as access to a dedicated mentor. Additional benefits include participation in the United Soccer Coaches Podcast as well as networking opportunities.
"The networking and being able to put a face to a name and having a conversation is a huge benefit," said Lawrence. "You are connecting with other people who are really passionate about what we do and you gain another family who will be there to grow and support you."
