SYRACUSE, N.Y. - From the Atlantic Coast Conference to the FAÂ Women's Super League, former Syracuse women's soccer student-athlete Erin Simon knows a thing or two about playing at the highest level.
Simon, a reliable member of the Orange defense from 2012-15, currently plays for West Ham United in England's highest league of women's soccer. She joined the squad on a free transfer, having left Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League at the end of the 2017-18 season.Â
"I think this will be a great experience for me to grow as a player," Simon said. "The culture of football in England is very technical and tactical, so to learn those aspects of the game will help me improve as an overall player."
West Ham currently sits in seventh place in the standings, most recently picking up a 2-1 win against Yeovil Town last Sunday. Simon was in West Ham's starting XI for the match, marking her third straight start.
At Syracuse, Simon scored ten goals and had eight assists over her four-year career. She graduated in 2016 from Syracuse's School of Education with a major in Health and Exercise Science.
