GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse senior Hendrik Hilpert is this week's ACC Defensive Player of the Week. The goalkeeper was honored for his performance in the Orange's wins against Akron and No. 1 Wake Forest.
Â
Hilpert made three saves in Syracuse's win at Akron, which helped the Orange snap their three-game winless streak. He then recorded five saves and posted his second shutout of the season in Syracuse's 2-0 upset of No. 1 Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons entered the match as the highest-scoring offense in the nation. His leaping save on Wake Forest's leading scorer Bruno Lapa's shot in the 57th minute kept the Demon Deacons off the scoreboard as the Orange took the lead for good less than 10 minutes later.
Â
Hilpert and his teammates put their three-game winning streak on the line when they travel to Louisville to face the No. 6 Cardinals on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
