GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the third time this season, Syracuse volleyball's Polina Shemanova is this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week. She is honored for her performance for the week of Nov. 4-11 where she helped the Orange sweep Georgia Tech for the second time this season.
Shemanova is the only ACC player to earn Freshman of the Week accolades three times this season. In Syracuse's lone match on the weekend, she led both teams with 16 kills and 15 digs. Her career-best .500 hitting percentage helped Syracuse pick up its first all-time win at Georgia Tech.
In her impressive freshman campaign, Shemanova ranks second in the ACC and 26th nationally with 4.22 kills per set. She has recorded double-digit kills in 21 of 23 matches this season including nine 20+ kill performances. Shemanova leads the Orange in both total kills (390) and total digs (239) and has recorded 13 double-doubles this season.
Syracuse returns home this weekend to face Virginia Tech Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. Parking and admission to the match is free and fans can follow along on Cuse.com or @CuseVB on Twitter.
