'Cuse Primed for ACC Championships

ACC CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
'Cuse travels to Clemson for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship this week, with the men looking for their second ACC title and the women seeking their first.
Ranking the Orange
- The Syracuse men enter at No. 9 in this week's USTFCCCA Poll, its first time in the top-10 since last season's final indoor poll.
'16 Repeat
- 'Cuse claimed its first ACC Indoor team title in 2016 after the Orange dominated the distance and hurdles events.
- The Orange will look for more of the same this season, as the team is similarly built in the same areas.
- Justyn Knight was the ACC Championship MVP after winning the 3000-meters and 5000-meters.
Women's 60m
- Eunice Boateng and Dasia Pressley enter with the top Syracuse time of 7.53 seconds. They each have the 20th-best seed time in the event.
- Justice Richardson (7.55) and Imani Clark (7.58) will also compete with seed times not far behind.
- Clemson's Rebekah Smith owns the top qualifying mark with a time of 7.26 seconds.
Men's 60m
- Kashif Miller (6.85), Chris Tucker (6.87) and Chuka Soronnadi (6.91) will represent 'Cuse in the 60-meter dash. Miller's seed time ranks 15th overall heading into the meet.
- Florida State's Andre Ewers leads the way with a seed time of 6.52 seconds.
Women's 60H
- Danielle Delgado (8.43) and Tia Thevenin (8.37) headline this event for the Orange.
- Thevenin is coming off an Honorable Mention All-America season in the 100-meter hurdles.
- Thevenin has the 10th-best seed time, while Delgado's mark ranks 13th entering the meet. Georgia Tech's Jeanine Williams (8.02) has the top spot.
Men's 60H
- Last year, Freddie Crittenden III earned the top seed in this event and followed up with an ACC Championship.
- This year, Angelo Goss holds the top seed time of 7.69 seconds, and he's surrounded by seven other teammates ranked in the top-12 of the ACC.
- Matt Moore (7.85) ranks fourth, David Gilstrap (7.92) is seventh and Richard Floyd is eighth in 7.93. Kelvin Almonte (8.02), Jamil Adams (8.09) and Chevis Armstead (8.09) are also factors to compete to get in the scoring, with Andrew Aguilera holding that capability as well, entering with a time of 8.47 seconds.
Women's 200m
- Boateng, Clark and Pressley will double down and also run the 200-meters after also running the 60, where they'll be joined by Victoria Parker.
- All-three currently rank in the top-eight of the ACC in the event, led by Pressley's 23.88 mark, which ranks fifth. Boateng (23.88) and Clark (23.94) rank seventh and eighth, respectively.
- Parker checks in with the 30th-best time at 24.74. The top time is Florida State's Shauna Helps in 23.20.
Men's 200m
- Miller also holds the top Orange time in the 200-meter dash, with a seed time of 21.74, which ranks 16th.
- NC State's Dylan Peebles (20.87) leads the way.
Women's 400m
- Kadejhia Sellers has the league's fastest 400-meter time heading into the ACC Championships. She'll be joined in the event by teammates Cheyenne Trigg and Alexis Harper.
- Sellers' time of 53.24 seconds from the BU Valentine Invitational is 0.21 seconds faster than the next-fastest competitor this season.
- Trigg's seed time is 56.33, while Harper boasts a time of 57.89.
Men's 400m
- Jalen Racine will be the lone 'Cuse competitor in the 400. His seed time is 50.64.
- Clemson's Jeffrey Green (45.87) owns the league's fastest mark by a full second.
Women's Mile
- In the women's mile, Rachel Bonner (4:49.52), Sydney Leiher (4:55.47) and Olivia Elston (5:06.02) will track to the track for 'Cuse.
- Bonner's seed time ranks 18th in the conference heading into the meet.
- The fastest time is Virginia Tech's Rachel Pocratsky (4:34.01).
Men's Mile
- Justyn Knight has the league's fastest time in the event this season (3:55.82), but will not compete in the mile.
- Instead, it'll be Noah Affolder headlining a group with Simon Smith, Andy Paladino and Nathan Henderson.
- Affolder has the league's ninth fastest time this season in 4:02.46 from the John Thomas Terrier Invitational. Smith (4:08.08), Henderson (4:10.54) and Paladino (4:15.21) will all compete alongside Affolder.
Women's 3000
- ACC Cross Country Champion Paige Stoner and fellow All-ACC selection Shannon Malone highlights the 3000-meters. Stoner, Malone and Kelsey Potts will run for the Orange in Saturday's race.
- Stoner enters the meet owning the fourth-fastest time in the conference this season. She turned in a time of 9:12.73 at the Dr. Sandler Invitational. NC State's Elly Henes has the best time of 9:07.26.
- Malone has a seed time of 9:16.19, while Potts has yet to race in a 3k this season.
Men's 3000
-Justyn Knight has won consecutive individual titles in the 3000-meters and is back again to headline the 3000-meters.
- This is an event that Syracuse has posted the three-fastest times in the league this season, with Knight's mark of 7:45.86 sitting 16.14 seconds faster than his closest competition from a rival school.
- Alongside Knight, Aidan Tooker (7:56.57), Iliass Aouani (7:59.88), Kevin James (8:11.84), Philo Germano (8:11.92) and Joe Dragon (8:13.00) look to secure a bundle of team points from this event.
Women's 5000
- Stoner will also race in the 5k, an event which she enters with the nation's 10th-fastest time and the second-best mark in the ACC in a school record 15:44.04.
- Teammate Shannon Malone will double up (16:13.07), while Madeleine Davison will join them as well, posting a seed time of 16:48.83.
Men's 5000
-Justin Knight enters the 5k event with the fastest time in the league and once again headlines a group of six 'Cuse stars as the two-time defending champion.
- Knight's 5k time is similarly dominant to his 3k, sitting 17.07 seconds faster than UVA's Brent Demarest, who ranks second in the conference.
- Behind Knight, Aidan Tooker (13:50.62), Iliass Aouani (13:56.39), Kevin James (14:17.22), Joe Dragon (14:19.25) and Philo Germano (14:17.36) could all double to grab more points.
Women's 4x400
- 'Cuse has the sixth-best 4x400-meter relay mark heading into the event. That time was set in school record fashion (3:40.78).
- The Orange got success from Danielle Delgado, Alexis Harper, Tia Thevenin, Kadejhia Sellers, Cheyenne Trigg and Imani Clark as its competitors in the event during the regular season.
Men's 4x400
- 'Cuse has the seventh best men's relay time as well, with Jamil Adams, Chevis Armstead, Pascal Bastein, Matt Moore and Jalen Racine serving as the group who ran the event earlier this year.
Men's DMR
- 'Cuse took second in the DMR the year they won the conference. Syracuse will hope for more of the same in 2018.
- Noah Affolder, Pascal Bastein, Nathan Henderson and Philo Germano set 'Cuse's seed time last week of 9:44.42, which enters as the third-best.
Women's Jumps
- Aviana Goode enters with the 15th-best mark in the high jump at 1.70 meters.
- She ranks 13th in the long jump (5.83 meters)
Men's Jumps
- Randall Johnson's seed mark of 1.98 meters ranks 15th in the league in the men's high jump.
- Javen Reeves of Louisville has cleared 2.23 meters this season to lead the way.
