Wimbert Joins Field Hockey Team

SYRACUSE, N.Y. –Kira Wimbert is the newest member of the Syracuse University field hockey team according to an announcement made Friday afternoon. A native of Hamburg, Germany, Wimbert has a plethora of international hockey experience that will show immediately with the Orange.
The daughter of Kirsten Wimbert and Ulrich Brauns, Wimbert attended Shawnigan Lake School in in British Columbia, Canada. She helped lead the Stags to the British Columbia AA Provincial championship in 2013 and 2014.
Her international experience stretches from Harvestehuder THC, a club part of Hockey Liga in Germany to the 1 Bundesliga, also an elite team in her native country. The daughter of a field hockey coach, Wimbert has been playing field hockey for over a decade.
A freshman communication and rhetorical studies major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse, the 5-foot-5 offensive threat will begin competing with the Orange this spring.
