SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse resumes its season-long homestand with a doubleheader against Niagara on Wednesday, Apr. 18. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.

For Starters
-Senior Sammy Fernandez, Syracuse's all-time hits leader, recorded the 64th multi-hit game of her career on Friday against Louisville. The total ties Tanya Rose atop the record books for career multi-hit games. Fernandez is a two-plus hit performance away from claiming another program record.
-Sophomore Alexa Romero leads the ACC and ranks in the top-10 nationally with 10.5 strikeouts per seven innings and 205 K's.
-Junior Bryce Holmgren leads the ACC and ranks ninth nationally with a .558 on-base percentage and leads the league in batting average (.413).
-The Orange are 5-1 against New York opponents this season and have outscored in-state foes 34-14. Under Bosch, 'Cuse is 20-5 against schools from the Empire State.
- Syracuse is 20-2 when scoring three or more runs and 15-1 when producing at least six runs. On the flip side, the Orange are 1-16 when scoring two or fewer runs. 'Cuse is also 18-4 when being the first team to score and 10-3 when scoring in the first inning.
- The Orange hold a 16-1 record in the all-time series, but the Purple Eagles won their first-ever game against Syracuse in 2017.
Scouting the Purple Eagles
- Niagara enters the doubleheader with a 10-23 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the MAAC. The Purple Eagles are coming off of a split with Youngstown State on Apr. 13. Niagara faced ACC foe NC State twice in March and went 0-2; losing 9-1 and 9-7.
- Kendall Watkins leads the Purple Eagles with a .290 batting average and 16 RBI. Jerri Ann Orfano is hitting .278 with five homeruns and 26 RBI.
- Sierra Bertrand has a team-high 15 starts in the circle and is 5-8 with a 3.90 ERA and 46 strikeouts. Karsen Cotton has 15 appearances with 11 starts and is 3-8 with a 4.65 ERA.
- Larry Puzan is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Purple Eagles. Puzan's teams have included one All-MAAC First Team honoree (3B/P Bridget Hogan), two All-MAAC Second Team selections (P/3B Bridget Hogan in 2014, SS Chanelle Ward in 2016) and two MAAC All-Rookie Team honorees (P Sierra Bertrand in 2016, INF Kendall Watkins in 2017).
