SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Alicia Hansen hit two solo homeruns and sophomore Alexa Romero struck out 11 batters to lead Syracuse (26-18, 8-11 ACC) to a 7-0 win over NC State (22-25, 5-15 ACC) Sunday afternoon at Skytop Softball Stadium. The Orange complete the sweep of the three-game series against the Wolfpack and clinch their spot in the 2018 ACC Tournament.

Hansen finished 2-for-2 with two walks and freshman Gabby Teran batted 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and a walk. Junior Andrea Bombace added a pinch-hit homer to center.

Romero pitched six innings and only gave up one hit. Freshman Miranda Hearn surrendered two hits and struck out two in the seventh to seal the victory.

How it was Decided
Hansen got the Orange off to a fast start with her leadoff solo shot in the first. RBI singles from senior Rachel Burkhardt and freshman Michala Maciolek, along with an additional run scored off a throwing error, gave 'Cuse a 4-0 lead after one.

In the fourth, Hansen hit her second homerun of the game and team-leading fourth of the season to stretch the lead to five. Later in the inning, senior Faith Cain's RBI single gave Syracuse a 6-0 lead.

Bombace's solo homer to center in the fifth concluded the scoring on the day.

Of Note
Romero, senior AnnaMarie Gatti and Hearn combined for 37 strikeouts in the three-game series against NC State.

Syracuse records its first ACC series sweep of the season and its first since winning three games against Virginia Tech in 2017.

The Orange hit three homeruns in a single-game for the first time this season and outhit the Wolfpack 12-3.

Syracuse looks to build on its six-game winning streak when it hosts Binghamton on Tuesday, Apr. 24 at 4 p.m.
