Hawryschuk, Defliese Earn All-ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomores Emily Hawryschuk and Kerry Defliese have been voted to the women's lacrosse All-ACC Team. Hawryschuk earned first-team honors, while Defliese was named to the second team. The All-ACC Team members were chosen by a vote of the league's head coaches and announced on Wednesday, April 25.

Hawryschuk, a native of Rochester, N.Y., leads Syracuse in points (56) and goals (48) this season. She is tied for second in the ACC and 35th in the nation in total goals. Hawryschuk has recorded multiple goals in 14 of 17 games this season and has scored four or more goals six times. She was the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after posting 11 points in two games against Loyola and Virginia Tech. Hawryschuk scored a career-high six goals, including the game winner in overtime and dished out two assists for a personal-best eight points against the Greyhounds.

Defliese has started all 17 games this season on defense. She ranks second on the team in caused turnovers and draw controls. The Garden City, N.Y. native has recorded career highs in caused turnovers (15), ground balls (17) and draw controls (40) this season.

Syracuse is the No. 7 seed in the ACC Tournament and takes on second-seed and fifth-ranked North Carolina in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 26 at 5 p.m. in Durham, N.C.
