ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Sammy Fernandez went 3-for-4 with three runs and freshman Gabby Teran added two RBI to lead Syracuse (29-19) to a 4-2 victory over Cornell (13-24) Monday afternoon at Niemand-Robison Softball Field.
Junior Bryce Holmgren finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run and two stolen bases. Junior Alicia Hansen and Teran each finished 2-for-4.
Senior AnnaMarie started in the circle and improved to 11-6 with the win. Gatti pitched four innings and gave up two runs with two strikeouts. Freshman Miranda Hearn pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts to pick up the save.
How it was Decided
The teams each tallied two runs in the first inning. Fernandez scored on a wild pitch and Teran singled home a run. Cornell scored its first run on an Orange error and tied it up with an RBI infield single from Olivia Lam.
'Cuse took a 3-2 lead in the third off on an RBI sacrifice fly by Holmgren and picked up an insurance run in the fifth on an RBI groundout from Teran.
Of Note
With three base knocks, Fernandez records her fourth three-hit game of the season and the 15th three-hit game for Syracuse.
Teran's drove in multiple runs in seven games this season, which ranks second on the Orange. Holmgren leads the team with 10 multi-RBI games.
Hearn is the only member of the 'Cuse pitching staff to record a save this season. She now has three in 2018.

Syracuse concludes the regular season with a home doubleheader against Colgate on Wednesday, May 2. First pitch of game one at Skytop Softball Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m.
