Gatti Blanks Raiders in Regular Season Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior AnnaMarie Gatti pitched her third straight complete game shutout at Skytop Softball Stadium to lead Syracuse (30-19) to a 2-0 win over Colgate (11-29) in game one of a doubleheader Wednesday evening.
The Orange reach 30 wins for the seventh time in program history and record back-to-back 30-victory seasons for the first time since the 2011 and 2012 campaigns.
Game two of the doubleheader went scoreless for three and a half innings before being called due to rain.
Game 1: Syracuse 2, Colgate 0
Gatti improved to 12-6 in 2018 after surrendering three hits with six strikeouts. Junior Alicia Hansen went 1-for-2 with two RBI and senior Sammy Fernandez went 1-for-1 with a triple and two walks.
'Cuse took a 1-0 lead in the first. Fernandez led off with a triple and Hansen brought her home with an RBI single through the left side.
Three walks loaded the bases for Syracuse in the second inning and Hansen gave the Orange a 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly.
Gatti retired 16 consecutive Raider batters during a stretch between the first and sixth innings.
Of Note
Fernandez's triple was the 12th of her career, which ties Stephanie Watts for first all-time in program history.
Gatti has gone the distance in five of her last seven outings and has won her last eight decisions.
Junior Bryce Holmgren walked to extend her team-high reached base streak to 22 games.

Syracuse heads to Atlanta, Ga. for the ACC Softball Tournament. The Orange will play a first round contest on Wednesday, May 9.
