SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University's volleyball team will face top competition during its 2018 slate which was released Thursday morning. The Orange have scheduled 10 teams that made the 2017 NCAA Tournament including national quarterfinalist, USC, on Sept. 9.
Complete Schedule

"The non-conference teams we are playing have built the strongest schedule we have ever had," head coach Leonid Yelin said. "It's really good and it will prepare us better for our conference games. It will help us find out who we are quickly and what we have to do to get better."

Yelin built the schedule based around high-RPI opponents to better the Orange's strength of schedule in 2018.

Syracuse begins the season on Friday, Aug. 31, when it travels to Storrs, Conn., for the UConn Tournament where they will face both the Huskies and New Hampshire.

The following weekend 'Cuse travels to Marquette's Tournament where it will face three teams that made the NCAA Tournament a season ago, Marquette, BYU and USC. BYU reached the round of sixteen in 2017 while USC was a national quarterfinalist.

The Orange wrap up non-conference play at the Iowa State Tournament from Sept. 14-16. While in Ames, Iowa, 'Cuse will go head-to-head with Wyoming, Iowa and 2017 NCAA Tournament qualifier Iowa State.

Syracuse begins its home slate and Atlantic Coast Conference season on Friday, Sept. 21 when the Orange women host Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. They return to action to play Clemson at home the following Sunday before a four-match conference road swing. During the stretch Syracuse will make stops at Wake Forest, Duke, Pittsburgh and Virginia.

Syracuse returns home to host Miami on Friday, Oct. 12, for the first of a four-match home stand that includes Florida State, North Carolina and NC State. Syracuse will make road trips to Notre Dame and Louisville this season with no return trips during late October.

The Orange are scheduled to play four of their last six ACC regular season matches on the road. They finish things out at home on Saturday, Nov. 24, against Wake Forest at 1 p.m.
