Syracuse, N.Y. – Fresh off a FIBA U20 European Women's Basketball Championship (Division B) and MVP honors, Veronika Vorackova is heading to Syracuse University in August to join head coach Quentin Hillsman's Orange this fall.
She was named one of six players expected to shine at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship (Division B) and that she did. The 6-foot-2 forward tallied 11 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game en route to leading Czech Republic to gold. She scored double figures in five of seven games throughout the tournament, including 12 points in the championship game.
Vorackova brings a wealth of international experience to Syracuse. She is a member of the Czech Republic Senior Team and participated in the 2017 FIBA EuroBasket Women where she was the youngest player.
She has been a member of the Czech Republic's U16, U18 and U20 national teams and earned 2017 U18 Women's European World Championship All-Tournament Team accolades.
During the 2017 European Championships, Vorackova averaged 11.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game as she helped her team to a fourth-place finish after losing to France and now Orange teammate Kadiatou Sissoko.
Vorackova joins a top-10 recruiting class that includes McDonald's All-American Emily Engstler and U20 French National Team member Sissoko.
