CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Syracuse looks for its first ACC win of the year at No. 18 North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse is coming off a setback on the road against then No.18 Duke last weekend in Durham. The Orange are now 3-3-4 and 0-2-2 in ACC play. The Orange out shot Duke, 19-16, but were not able to put one in the back of the net in the 4-0 loss.

This season, sophomore Ryan Raposo leads the team in goals (4), assists (3) and points (11). Not far behind is senior Massimo Ferrin, who has eight points. In goal for the Orange is sophomore Christian Miesch. He has a 1.37 goals-against average and a .707 save percentage. Miesch ranks second in the ACC in saves per game with 3.63.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina extended its win streak to three after beating West Virginia, 3-1, on Tuesday. The Tar Heels have a 7-2-2 overall mark, including a 3-1-0 record in conference play, and are ranked No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. UNC's two losses have come to now No. 9 Central Florida and No. 21 Duke. Both losses were at home.

Leading the Tar Heels offense is senior Jelani Pieters. He has recorded team highs in points (13) and assists (5). Junior Alex Rose and senior Mauricio Pineda lead the team in goals with five each. North Carolina has five players with multiple goals and 10 players with at least one goal this season. Sophomore Alec Smir is in goal for the Tar Heels. Smir has a 0.88 goals-against average and a .697 save percentage. He has only allowed 10 goals on the season.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's matchup marks the sixth meeting between Syracuse and North Carolina. The Tar Heels lead the series, 3-0-2. The two teams have not played since 2016 when they played twice that season. The first matchup was at SU Soccer Stadium and resulted in a 0-0 tie. The second meeting was in the second round of the NCAA Tournament where the Tar Heels narrowly escaped with a 1-0 victory.

Syracuse begins a three-game homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 15 against Connecticut in the final non-conference match of the year. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at SU Soccer Stadium.
