
Orange Tangle with Raiders this Weekend

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The early-season grind continues this weekend for the Syracuse ice hockey team when the Orange split a home-and-home series with Colgate (2-2-1). The series opens Friday at 6 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y. and concludes Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Tennity Ice Pavilion. Friday's game can be seen on ESPN+ while Saturday's contest will stream via Cuse.tv here. Parking and admission for Saturday are free.

LAST TIME OUT
The Orange took two home losses against No. 3 Northeastern last weekend, losing 2-1 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday.

Both defenses were out in force on Friday as the score went unchanged through the first two periods before 'Cuse junior alternate captain Kristen Siermachesky opened the scoring seven minutes into the third. The lead didn't last long though as the Huskies capitalized on a power-play goal to knot the score at one apiece. NU's Mia Brown then scored the game-winning goal with 23 second remaining in regulation. Syracuse Junior goalie Allison Small had a career-best 36 saves in the loss.

Saturday was a back-and-forth shootout that saw five goals scored in the first period between both teams. Northeastern pulled away in the second after scoring their third power-play goal of the day for a 4-3 lead. The Huskies then added two insurance goals in the third.

Redshirt senior captain Lindsay Eastwood notched her 50th career point in Saturday's game after netting Syracuse's second goal of the afternoon. The goal tied the game at two and was the 17th of her career. Eastwood has 17 goals and 33 assists heading into the Colgate series.

SERIES HISTORY
Colgate leads the all-time series 11-5-3. The Raiders were victorious in both of last year's games, winning, 5-2, Dec. 6 in Syracuse and 4-2 in Hamilton the day after. Syracuse has not beaten Colgate since the 2014-15 season opener where the Orange won, 2-1, at home.

The Raiders are 2-2-1 and are undefeated at home, both their losses coming on the road against No. 2 Minnesota. Noemi Neubauerova, Danielle Serdachny, and Coralie Larose have all registered two goals and at least one assist on the year. Neubauerova (2-2-4) and Tanner Gates (0-4-4) pace the team in points.

Between the pipes is defending ECAC player of the week senior Liz Auby. Auby earned the honor for her efforts in last week's series against Mercyhurst where she saved 17 of 18 shots in Friday's 2-1 victory before stopping 34 in Saturday's 3-3 tie. She leads the nation in minutes played with 259:10 and is second in the country in saves with 101.
Of Note: Colgate was the 2018 national runner up after falling, 2-1, to Clarkson in the NCAA Championship game that year.Â
