Greensboro, N.C. – Two goals in two games propelled Sarah Luby to Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. She helped guide the 15th-ranked Syracuse field hockey team to a 2-0 week at home.
Luby scored one goal in each of Syracuse's wins last week tallying four points. She finished with a .667 shot percentage and was 50 percent in shots on goal. It was the first time she scored in back-to-back games during her Syracuse career.
She scored the second of Syracuse's four goals in a 4-2 Orange win over No. 20 Wake Forest on Friday night. It was the first time the Orange defeated the Demon Deacons at J.S. Coyne Stadium since 2015.
The junior from Baltimore, Md., is set to graduate in 2020 and was recognized on Senior Day prior to the start of Sunday's 3-1 win over Cornell. Luby scored her second goal of the weekend, an insurance goal nine minutes into the second half, when she ran through three Big Red defenders to find the back of the goal from the right side.
Luby is second on the team in goals (4) and third in points (9) this season. The Orange wrap up the regular season on the road Saturday, Nov. 2, at No. 5 Louisville. Fans can watch live on ACCNX online or via the WatchESPN App at 1 p.m.
