SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Redshirt junior Kiara Lewis put on a show Sunday afternoon as she spearheaded No. 17 Syracuse's effort against No. 1 Oregon at home in the Dome. Lewis' 23 points were a personal milestone, as were her seven made free throws in Syracuse's 81-64 loss in front of a crowd of 3,091 fans.
"I thought Oregon played really tough in the first half and we played a tough first half too," said head coach Quentin Hillsman. "They came out in the third quarter and really made some things happen. We just have to be conscious of all those runs and situations. We talked about how good teams are going to make runs. They made runs and we made runs, but who can stop the run or who can sustain the run, is what it came down to."

Of Note
- Kiara Lewis scored 23 points, a career high. Her previous mark was 20 against Duke on Jan. 27, 2019.
- Lewis is the first Orange to surpass the 20-point mark since Tiana Mangakahia put up 21 against Fordham on March 24, 2019 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Lewis also set a career mark for free throws, sinking seven. She had previously sunk six two times in her career.
- Redshirt sophomore Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi was second on the team in scoring. Her 16 points were three shy of her career high, and her 10 boards were one short of her personal mark.
- It marks Djaldi-Tabdi's second career double-double. Both of which she has tallied against nationally-ranked opponents. Her first was against No. 20 Texas A&M on Nov. 14, 2018.
- As a unit, Syracuse hit 10 treys for the second time this season (14, Maryland Eastern Shore).
How it Happened
- The Ducks jumped out to an early 6-0 lead following back-to-back threes from Erin Boley and Satou Sabally. 'Cuse responded by going on a 12-5 run to keep things close, the streak igniting off a jumper-layup combo from Djaldi-Tabdi. Syracuse kept the pressure on and by the end of the opening quarter, the board read 15-15.
- Syracuse used the crowd's energy to pull away in the second quarter, scoring nine unanswered points to take a 24-15 lead before Oregon ended the run.
- The Syracuse offense cooled as Oregon flipped the script and went on a five-minute, 16-5 run to to take a 31-29 advantage, Sabrina Ionescu and Boley each contributing five points. Kiara Lewis added a free throw to cap the quarter as Syracuse entered its locker room trailing 31-30.
- The third quarter picked up right where the second left off, with both sides going shot-for-shot. The Orange fought back to tie the game at 38 with six minutes to go in the quarter. The Ducks responded with a 12-2 run led by Ruthy Hebard, who scored seven points in three minutes. The 10-point lead was Oregon's largest of the game up to that point.
- Oregon pulled away from there, ending the third quarter on a 12-6 run to extend its lead to 62-46. The Orange and Ducks kept the fight going in the fourth, with Oregon scoring 19 points and Syracuse putting up 18 making the final score 81-64.
