Â
Syracuse is coming off a three-point weekend in State College, Pa. that featured the Orange earning a 1-1 tie on Saturday before earning their second College Hockey America (CHA) win of the year on Sunday (3-1). Sophomore Abby Moloughney had an impressive second game as she picked up two assists en route to her first goal of the year.
Â
50-50
Redshirt senior captain Lindsay Eastwood and senior Savannah Rennie both hit the 50-point mark Nov. 24 in Syracuse's 3-1 win over Penn State. Rennie reached the milestone first after opening scoring just five minutes into the game. Eastwood's mark came with just 28 seconds left in the game as she picked up the primary assist on Moloughney's empty netter.
Â
The Hunt for 400
Head coach Paul Flanagan enters Tuesday with 396 career wins. At 400, he'll become the seventh collegiate women's coach to hit the milestone, and second in the CHA behind Mercyhurst's Michael Sisti.
Â
On the Cusp
As a program, Syracuse is one away from its 100th conference victory, and Flanagan has been behind the bench for each win leading up to now. The Orange's next conference matchup is Friday, Dec. 6 at Lindenwood.
Â
Orange vs Ranked Opponents
Syracuse started the year grinding against some of the nation's top teams. The Orange opened the year against No. 3 Clarkson before taking on No. 7 Boston College and No. 3 Northeastern. While Colgate was unranked, they were the runner-up in last season's NCAA Championship, and 'Cuse went on to play No. 6 Princeton the following weekend. With five of the best teams in the NCAA lining up against them, the Orange were arguably playing their toughest season schedue ever.
Â
There was a similar situation in 2010-11 when 'Cuse opened against No. 8 New Hampshire, No. 9 Boston College, and No. 10 Providence. Syracuse went on to be the runner-up in the CHA Tournament that year, losing, 5-4, to No. 4 Mercyhurst.
Series History
Cornell has proven to be a fierce foe for Syracuse. The Big Red hold a commanding 12-1 series lead, with the Orange's lone victory (2-1, OT) coming in the two program's first meeting on Jan. 5, 2010.
Â
Scouting the Big Red
           - Cornell is undefeated this season and comes to town on the heels of 6-0 and 9-1 victories over Yale and Brown, respectively.
           - Cornell has five players ranked in the top-45 for points per game this year. That quintet combines for 23 goals and 28 assists.
           - Amy Curlew (8-2-10) is averaging a goal a game, one of only two players in the nation currently doing so. Of her eight goals, four have come on the power play.
           - Jaime Bourbonnais has 11 assists on the year, good for 1.38/game. Nationally, she ranks second in assists per game.
           - Goaltender Lindsay Browning has the best GAA (0.39) in the NCAA. The junior has allowed just three goals in eight games.
