CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- No. 10 seed Syracuse will face No. 7 seed North Carolina in the first round of the ACC Men's Soccer Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Start time in Chapel Hill is set for 4 p.m.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse finished the regular season with a 7-5-4 record, including a 2-4-2 mark in ACC play. The Orange won four out of their last six matches and outscored their opponents 24-12 in that stretch.

For the first time since 2015, when the Orange were ACC Champions, Syracuse has two players with 20 or more points. Sophomore Ryan Raposo has 31 points on 13 goals and five assists. He has scored nine of his 13 goals in the past six games. Senior Massimo Ferrin has 21 points on six goals and nine assists. Ferrin has three multi-assist games on the season.

Syracuse has a well-balanced offense as 10 players have at least one goal and eight players have at least one assist.

Sophomore Christian Miesch has started 13 games in goal for the Orange and has a .619 save percentage and a 1.75 goals-against average.

ORANGE IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is making its sixth appearance in the ACC Tournament since joining the conference in 2013. The Orange have an all-time record of 5-2-3 in the league tournament.

Syracuse and North Carolina have met once in the ACC Tournament. It was a second-round match in Chapel Hill in 2015. The teams played to a 1-1 draw, but the Orange won the penalty kick shootout to advance to the semifinals. Syracuse went on to defeat Clemson and Notre Dame on their home pitches to claim the program's first ACC Championship.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina enters Tuesday's match on a six-game winless streak. The Tar Heels' 4-3 loss to Syracuse on Oct. 12 started a 0-1-5 stretch for UNC. The Tar Heels finished the regular season with a 7-7-3 record, including 3-5 in ACC play.

North Carolina has four players with more than 10 points this season – junior Alex Rose (16), and seniors Jelani Pieters (13), Mauricio Pineda (12), and Jack Skahan (11). Rose leads the team in goals with seven and Pieters and Skahan are tied for the top spot in assists with five each.

In goal for the Tar Heels is sophomore Alec Smir. He has a .649 save percentage and a 1.13 goals-against average.

Carlos Somoano is in his ninth year at the helm of the UNC program. He is the active leader in winning percentage and won the 2011 NCAA Tournament with North Carolina.

Tuesday's matchup marks the seventh meeting between Syracuse and North Carolina, and the second meeting this season. The Tar Heels lead the series, 3-1-2, but the Orange won the earlier meeting this season, 4-3. In that game, Raposo had a hat trick, which included the game-winning goal in the 88th minute. The Orange were down 3-1 with only 36 minutes left to play but were able to come back and win in regulation.
