
Raposo, Ferrin Finish Among National Leaders

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Sophomore midfielder Ryan Raposo and senior forward Massimo Ferrin placed among the nation's best in numerous categories in the Division I men's soccer statistics for the 2019 season.

Raposo, who was recently named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team, ranked seventh in points (37), ninth in points per game (1.85), 11th in goals (15) and 14th in goals per game (0.75). Additionally, the Hamilton, Ontario native claimed single-season program records for the most goals (15) and points (37) scored by a sophomore.  Â

In his second season with Syracuse, Ferrin, who hails from Mississauga, Ontario, placed 10th in total assists (9) and 23rd in assists per game (0.45). His assist total tied Steve Morris for the second-most assists in a season by a senior.

As a team, the Orange ranked prominently in several categories, placing sixth in corner kicks per game (6.75), 19th in total goals (41) and 25th in points per game (5.85). The team's 41 goals were the eighth most in program history while their 35 assists tied the 2012 squad for eighth-most in program history.

Additionally, Syracuse received four votes in the final United Soccer Coaches men's poll released on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Orange finished the 2019 campaign with an 8-7-5 record and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where it advanced to the quarterfinals for the sixth time in the last eight years.
