NEW YORK – Syracuse midfielder Ryan Raposo has agreed to a Generation adidas contract with Major League Soccer (MLS). Raposo will forego his final two years of eligibility and enter the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, which will take place on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Â
It marks the sixth consecutive season that a member of the Orange has signed a Generation adidas contract. Syracuse's six signees are the most for any school in the nation. That group includes Alex Bono (2014), Julian Buescher (2015), Miles Robinson (2016), Mo Adams (2017) and Tajon Buchanan (2018).
Â
Raposo was one of the leading scorers in the nation in 2019. He ranked seventh in points (37), ninth in points per game (1.85), 11th in goals (15) and 14th in goals per game (0.75). He recorded five or more points in a game five times, including an eight-point performance against Morrisville.
Â
The Hamilton, Ontario native set a school record for most points and goals by a sophomore. Raposo was voted to the All-ACC First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team. In addition, he was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Top IX Second Team.
Â
The remaining members of this year's Generation adidas class are Robbie Robinson (Clemson), Jack Maher (Indiana) and Henry Kessler (Virginia).
Â
The first and second rounds of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft will start at noon on Jan. 9 and be streamed on Twitter.
