Orange Announce 2019 Signing Class

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's soccer team announced its 2019 recruiting class Friday, Feb. 1. The class of signees includes midfielder Kailey Brenner, midfielder/forward Teri Jackson, forward Alex Panaggio, forward Alex Steigelfest, defender/forward Gianna Villoresi and goalkeeper Michaela Walsh.
The class spans the continental United States, with the incoming freshmen hailing from four states - New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and California.
Kailey Brenner | Midfielder | Montebello, N.Y. (Suffern High School)
Brenner, from Montebello, N.Y., attended Suffern High School, where she led the soccer team to its first-ever NY Section I AA Championship game during her freshman year. Brenner played two seasons with the NYCFC Girls Academy and served as a two-year captain.Â
Brenner is expected to bring a high level of intelligence, as well as a high level of technical ability to the Orange.
Teri Jackson | Midfielder/Forward | North Plainfield, N.J. (Immaculata High School)
Jackson joins the Orange from North Plainfield, N.J., where she attended Immaculata High School. Jackson spent two seasons playing for Match Fit Academy FC and was was named to the All-Skyland Conference First Team in 2017.
Jackson has an uncanny ability for scoring goals and assisting, and she will bring her dynamic presence to the Orange in multiple positions throughout her career.
Alex Panaggio | Forward | Holliston, Mass. (Holliston High School)
Panaggio joins the Orange from Holliston, Mass., where she attended Holliston High School. Panaggio scored 24 goals and had 10 assists in her senior year, along with captaining her team to a 17-1-2 finish. Panaggio scored 62 goals and carded 34 assists in her career, earning MVP honors in 2015 and 2017 for Holliston, as well as Offensive Player of the Year recognition in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
At the club level, Panaggio played for FC Stars, where she competed in the ECNL Nationals in 2014-16 and was named to the ECNL Best 11 in 2015. Panaggio was also named to the IMG Top 150 in 2016, as well as the Top Drawer Soccer Atlantic Coast Top 11 2019 Recruits in 2016.
Panaggio is expected to bring great composure and ruthlessness in front of the goal. Â

Alex Steigelfest | Forward | Santa Monica, Calif. (Santa Monica High School)
Steigelfest joins the Orange from Santa Monica, Calif., where she attended Santa Monica High School. Steigelfest competed all four years for SAMOHI as an attacking midfielder, leading the team to the Ocean League Championship in the 2016-17 season. She was named to the 2018 Varsity All -Tournament Team at the South High Girls Soccer Tournament and was selected to participate in 2019 CIF Division 3 All Star game.
Steigelfest was also a member of the National Honor Society.
She is expected to bring a high level of technical ability, a great understanding of the game, and a tireless work ethic.
Gianna Villoresi | Defender/Forward | Randolph, N.J. (Villa Walsh High School)
Villoresi comes to the Orange from Randolph, N.J., where she attended Villa Walsh. Villoresi won a state and sectional championship as a freshman and was voted Team MVP in 2016 and 2018. She also received All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2015, All-Conference Second Team in 2016 and NJAC Soccer All-Academic Team in 2016.Â
At the club level, Villoresi played for and captained PDA for the last three seasons.
Gianna is a gifted athlete who can play in multiple positions and possesses great leadership skills.Â
Michaela Walsh | Goalkeeper |Â Denville, NJ (Mount Saint Mary Academy)
Walsh joins the Orange from Denville, N.J., where she attended Mount Saint Mary Academy. In 2016 and 2018, Walsh helped lead her high school to the Skyland Valley Division championships. Walsh received All-State honors in 2016, as well as First Team Skyland Conference honors in 2016 and 2017. She was also on the New Jersey Player of the Year watch list in 2018.
Walsh is expected to compete for a starting position in net for the Orange.
