SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Pleun Lammers will play for the Orange in the 2019 season. Lammers, a native of Doetinchem, Netherlands, has been playing field hockey since the age of six and brings a high level of international experience.
"I am extremely excited to welcome this 2019 class to our Syracuse family," head coach Ange Bradley said. "This class is one of the most talented classes we have recruited to Syracuse. We have a balance of domestic an international talent. I am pleased to welcome this class to our global Syracuse family."
Lammers attended Rietveld Lyceum High School in the Netherlands and played club hockey for two different teams during high school. First, she played for Wageningse MHC for three years before joining Amsterdamse H&BC under head coach Tim Broenink her senior year.
"Pleun will bring elite playing experience to our team as she has earned the ability to train and compete with the Amsterdam women's team as a junior player," Bradley said. "The same club Syracuse alum Alma Fenne played for as a junior. This is one of the best teams in the world and we look forward to Pleun bringing her experience and teamwork to our Syracuse family. We expect her to make an immediate impact in our midfield and forward line. I'm proud to welcome Pleun to our family."
A 5-foot-6 midfielder and attacker, Lammers scored 12 goals and tallied 16 assists in 20 games last season and was named to the pre-selection U16 National Dutch team in 2017 and East Holland district team in 2015.
Lammers said she chose Syracuse because it is a great opportunity for her to play field hockey and study at the highest level.
