Three Orange Earn Zag/NFHCA Academic Honors

Gilbert, Ariz. – Three members of the 2018 Syracuse Field Hockey team are among this year's Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Scholars of Distinction. Claire Cooke, Sabrina Franco, and Alexandra Morales have been recognized for maintaining an outstanding academic performance for the fall 2018 semester.
Cooke made 14 starts last season, and the sophomore netted two goals for the Orange. Additionally, Cooke, Franco, and Morales were named to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad along with four other Orange teammates. The team was awarded the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for the second-straight year.
In order to be recognized as a Scholar of Distinction, the athletes must achieve a 3.9 grade point average or higher through the first semester of the academic year. There is 140 student-athletes from across the country received the distinction this year.
Cooke and Morales will both be back next year as part of the 2019 squad which welcomes one of the best recuriting classes in program history at Syracuse.
