SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse women's soccer rising senior midfielder Georgia Allen is set to rejoin the England women's national U21 team.
England head coach Mo Marley announced the 20-player squad Thursday, May 9, adding Allen to the Young Lionesses' roster ahead of the upcoming U23 Open Nordic Tournament.
Allen, originally from Suffolk, England, was first named to the U21 team last November after representing England at the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in France last summer. She played in four matches at the World Cup, scoring the winning goal in a penalty shootout to lead England to a 4-2 victory over France in the bronze-medal match.
Allen first competed for England in 2011 with the U15 team. She made her international debut in 2012 against the Republic of Ireland before participating in the 2017 UEFA Women's U19 European Championship, where she tallied a pair of goals in England's 2-0 victory over Italy.
The Young Lionesses begin play at the U23 Open Nordic Tournament Sunday, May 26 against Norway. Allen and her teammates then face China Thursday, May 30, before a meeting with the Netherlands Saturday, June 1, in Sweden.
