SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Orange teammates are preparing to represent their home countries in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup in June. Kamal Miller was named to Team Canada's roster on Thursday, May 30, while Miles Robinson will take part in the U.S. Men's National Team's preparation camp in Annapolis, Md. this weekend.
Â
Miller and Robinson teamed up in the backfield for Syracuse in 2015 and 2016. As freshmen, the duo helped Syracuse win its first ACC Championship and advance to the College Cup for the first time in school history. During their sophomore seasons, Syracuse earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Dartmouth to advance to the third round for the third consecutive year.
Â
Miller finished his career with the Orange in 2018. The four-year starter served as a team captain as a senior and earned All-ACC and All-Region Third Team honors after helping Syracuse post five shutouts. Miller was selected by Orlando City SC with the third pick of the second round in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
Â
Robinson signed a Generation adidas contract following the 2016 season and was selected by Atlanta United with the second overall pick of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He helped Atlanta United claim the 2018 MLS Cup in just its second season in the league.
Â
The U.S. camp concludes on June 2. The final list of 23 players for the Gold Cup is due by midnight on June 5.
Â
The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup opens on June 15 with the finals set for July 7 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
