
#19 Orange Begin Four-Game Road Stretch Sunday

Syracuse, N.Y. – The 19th-ranked Syracuse University field hockey team (5-2) travels to Colgate (2-5) for a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. The Central New York showdown kick starts a four-game road stretch for the Orange, who look to bounce back after a 2-0 loss to #5 Virginia in Friday night's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opener.
Syracuse has won two of its last three games, including a thrilling 2-1 win in overtime over #14 Saint Joseph's on Sept. 13. Charlotte de Vries leads the team with seven goals and an assist for a team-best 15 points. Carolin Hoffmann and Laura Graziosi each have a pair of goals and three other Orange have scored this season. 'Cuse averages 2.0 goals per game and is allowing 1.57 goals per game. Sarah Sinck is 5-2 overall this season and has made 24 saves with a .727 goals against average.
Colgate is coming off a 2-1 loss to Lehigh in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders are 1-3 at home this season and are led by Taylor Casamassa and Nicole Salamone who each have three goals. Casamassa has three assists for a team-best nine points. Anna Unger is 2-4 in goal with 28 saves through seven games this season.
Syracuse leads the all-time series 22-10 and has won the last five meetings. Sunday's game is the first between the two since 2008 when the Orange shutout the Raiders, 12-0.
'Cuse resumes ACC play on Friday, Sept. 27, when the Orange travel to #2 Duke. Game time is set for 5 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
