Root Tabbed for All-ACC Academic Team

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse sophomore Meghan Root has earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team. A magazine major in Syracuse's prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Root has twice earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in her time at Syracuse University.

"I am extremely proud of Meghan for receiving this honor," head coach Nicky Adams said. "Not only does Meghan give us everything she has on the field, she is very dedicated and works very hard to be the best student she can be."

Root is the first Orange women's soccer player to be named to the All-ACCA Academic Team since goalie Courtney Brosnan in 2018.

Root did more than perform in the classroom during her sophomore season. The forward led 'Cuse in goals with three and tied for the team lead in assists (two). Two of her goals came against Wake Forest, a game Syracuse won 2-1.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
