Syracuse completes the fall portion of its season when it hosts #10 Virginia at the SU Soccer Stadium on Sunday at noon. The Orange will recognize nine seniors and two graduate transfers in pregame ceremonies.
ORANGE AND CAVALIERS COMING OFF WINS
Both clubs enter Sunday's game following Thursday night victories.Syracuse (1-6, 1-6) picked up its first win of the fall with a 1-0 victory at Miami. #10 Virginia (6-2-1, 4-2-1) defeated Boston College on the road, 2-1.Â
SENIOR CELEBRATION
The following 11 Syracuse performers will be recognized prior to kickoff with Virginia:
There were a handful of first-time happenings in the Syracuse contest at Miami. Junior Jenna Tivnan scored her first collegiate goal off a header in the first half. Freshman Lindsey Brick picked up the first assist of her Orange tenure, setting up Tivnan on her corner kick.
The win was Syracuse's first shutout triumph of the season and the Orange's first ACC road triumph since 2017.
PROULX'S NUMBER ONE
Syracuse senior goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx entered the week of play ranked first among Division I players in save average. Although she only had to make three saves in the shutout triumph at Miami, her save average is a hefty 9.1.
THE SYRACUSE-VIRGINIA SERIES
Virginia has captured each of the five matches in the series with Syracuse. The Cavaliers won the most recent encounter, 4-0, in 2018.
