SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse opens the 2020 season against No. 2 Pittsburgh Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the SU Soccer Stadium. Start time is set for 7 p.m.

Consistent with New York State's COVID-19 protocol and in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy campus community, Syracuse University Athletics will not host fans at any home sports events at this time.
ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse is set to begin its 2020 campaign after an eight-win 2019 season in which it advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship.
Senior Luther Archimede is the team's leading goal scorer to return this season. Archimede scored four goals last year, paired with four assists. Sophomore Hilli Goldhar leads returning players with six assists last season.
The Orange are without Ryan Raposo and Massimo Ferrin, who were the team's top two in goals and assists in 2019. Raposo signed a Generation adidas contract after the season and was drafted by Vancouver FC with the No. 4 pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. Ferrin plays for Loudoun United in the USL.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Pittsburgh enters Tuesday's game ranked No. 2 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches rankings. The Panthers (1-0) are coming off a 3-1 victory over Notre Dame, who at the time was ranked fifth in the country.
Alexander Dexter and Bertin Jacquesson scored Pitt's two goals against the Fighting Irish. An own goal accounted for the Panthers' third goal.
Dexter is Pittsburgh's leading returning scorer. He recorded 12 points last season on three goals and a team-best six assists.
Jay Vidovich is in his fifth season at the helm of the Pittsburgh program. Previously, he served as the head coach at Wake Forest for 21 years.
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse and Pittsburgh have met on the pitch 23 times. Each team has posted nine wins in the series, while five matches have ended in a draw. The squads last played in 2019 at the SU Soccer Stadium. Hilli Goldhar scored in the 18th minute to give the Orange the lead, but Pitt recorded the equalizer in the 36th minute and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
