SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Preseason honors continue to roll in for Emily Hawryschuk and Sarah Cooper. The pair were named to US Lacrosse Magazine's Preseason All-America Team on Monday, Dec. 21. The list included 13 players from seven different schools.
Â
Hawryschuk led the Orange with 39 goals and 46 points in eight games last spring. She scored five or more goals in five of eight games in the shortened 2020 season and posted seven or more points three times.
Â
The Victor, N.Y. native returns this spring, taking advantage of the NCAA's ruling that spring sport student-athletes who had their seasons impacted by COVID-19 would be granted eligibility relief. Hawryschuk will enter the 2021 season ranked seventh on Syracuse's all-time scoring list with 242 points. Additionally, her 201 goals rank sixth on the school's all-time leader list.
Â
Cooper led the Orange with 12 caused turnovers last season and helped the 'Cuse defense lead the nation with a 7.00 goals-against average. The defender from Lutherville, Md. has started every game on defense the past two seasons.
Â
Syracuse posted a 7-1 record in the shortened 2020 season and was ranked No. 4 in the final polls.
