
We're Honoring "Mac's XI" to Celebrate His First 'Cuse Decade

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Head coach Ian McIntyre celebrated his 10th season at the helm of the Syracuse men's soccer program last fall. In celebration of his first decade leading the Orange, fans are invited to pick "Mac's XI", honoring the top players during his tenure.

Starting Monday, March 9, fans can take part in an online vote to choose the "starting XI". The goalkeeper vote takes place during the first week, followed by defenders, midfielders and finally forwards. The "Mac's XI" will be announced at the men's soccer annual Social and Benefit Auction on Friday, April 24.

Coach McIntyre was named Syracuse's 15th head coach on Jan. 6, 2010 and has guided Syracuse to a record of 94-70-30. Under his tutelage, the Orange have played in the NCAA Tournament six times. Syracuse won its first ACC Championship in 2015 and advanced to the College Cup for the first time in program history.

McIntyre came to the 'Cuse after spending seven seasons as head coach at his alma mater, Hartwick. One of his moves after taking the reins at Syracuse was to hire now associate head coach Jukka Masalin, who had been his top aide with the Hawks for the previous two seasons. The pair of developed nine MLS SuperDraft first-round picks and several players who have played for their national teams.
