Here are eight things to know before the eight-seed Orange begin their quest for an ACC Tournament Championship.
- Syracuse is 6-6 all-time at the ACC Tournament. The Orange have never been seeded lower than eight since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 season.
- Thursday will be the second meeting between 'Cuse and UVA in ACC Tournament history with Syracuse winning the only previous meeting, 67-57, in a 5/12 matchup in 2019.
- When Syracuse traveled to Charlottesville for the lone meeting this season, the Cavaliers earned a 16-point win over the Orange, 57-41. UVA held Syracuse leading scorer Kiara Lewis to just two points and the entire team to 26.3 percent from the field. It was the lowest points total for the Orange this season.
- The Orange have appeared in the 8/9 matchup one time during their ACC tenure. In 2018, nine-seed Virginia Tech erased a 16-point third quarter deficit to beat Syracuse 85-70.
- Last season, Syracuse earned the five-seed and defeated Virginia (12) and Miami (4) to reach the ACC Tournament Semifinals for the second time in four years. The win over Miami secured the Orange as a first and second round host for the NCAA Tournament.
- Syracuse is 32-26 all-time in conference tournaments. The Orange have a 16-20 all-time record in the BIG EAST Tournament before joining the ACC. Syracuse has won one conference tournament championship (BIG EAST, 1985) and twice finished as runners-up (BIG EAST, 1988 and ACC, 2016).
- Thursday's game will be live on Regional Sport Networks (YES Network in Syracuse). Fans outside of the YES Network territory should consult the RSN listing for coverage in their area. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
- The winning team will advance to play No. 1 seed Louisville at 2 p.m. on Friday. The Orange and Cardinals split the regular season meetings each winning their respective home games. No. 7 Louisville downed the Orange by four, 62-58, on Dec. 29, 2019 and Syracuse earned its first top-5 win in Carrier Dome history on Feb. 9, 2020. The 59-51 Syracuse win also served as head coach Quentin Hillsman's 300th career win.
