SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse guard Teisha Hyman will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained in last Thursday's road game at NC State. The White Plains, N.Y., native led all Syracuse freshman in scoring this season appearing in 23 games this season.
"Teisha has made an immediate impact on our season," Syracuse Head Coach Quentin Hillsman said. "She has played fantastic as a freshman. Once fully recovered, I'm confident that she will pick up where she left off."
Hyman averaged 6.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game this season. She tallied a season-high 16 points on two occasions including a 16-point, seven-steal performance in her first career start against Boston College on Feb. 6.
"Unfortunately my season has come to an end earlier than anticipated," Hyman said. "I've been here before and know what it takes so I will be working hard to get back. I'll come back stronger and better and I look forward to rejoining my teammates next season. Thank you to all our fans and the continued support."
Hyman did not play in Sunday's regular season finale against Boston College at the Dome.
Syracuse heads to the ACC Women's Basketball Tournament this week as the eight-seed and will face nine-seed Virginia in the second round on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum.
