Conference Champs! A Look Back at a BIG EAST Title

Syracuse made history in 2007 when it won the inaugural BIG EAST Tournament played in the Carrier Dome. The No. 7 Orange downed their nemesis, No. 10 Georgetown, 12-7 to claim their first conference championship.
The BIG EAST title was not only the first for Syracuse. Not only did the victory end Georgetown's six-year reign as the conference's champions, it was also the Cuse's first-ever victory against the Hoyas in 11 attempts. The two schools, which shared the regular-season crown, played a sudden-death overtime thriller earlier in the season with Georgetown prevailing, 9-8.
Goalkeeper Amber Pardee-Hill recorded 24 saves in the tournament, including 13 in the championship game, and earned the Most Outstanding Player Award. As tournament champions, Syracuse earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The squad, led by BIG EAST Coach of the Year Lisa Miller, posted a 13-6 record in 2007. With team success comes individual accolades. Katie Rowan, Halley Quillinan and Ashley Pike earned All-America honors. They were joined on the All-Region Team by Shari Appollon and Christina Dove.
