Syracuse (0-1, 0-1 ACC) returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 1, when it plays at Louisville (1-1, 1-1 ACC). It's the first of a two-game road swing for the Orange, who play at Notre Dame on Oct. 4.
RE-START
The Louisville match is a re-start of sorts for Syracuse. The Orange have not played since a Sept. 17 encounter at Pittsburgh. CoVID-19 has affected the fall schedule for the 'Cuse and brought about the long break between contests. Syracuse will now play eight regular-season games in the next month.
THE LOUISVILLE SERIES
The Cardinals have dominated the series against Syracuse, posting an unblemished 6-0-1 record in the all-time meetings. Louisville has won four straight pairings with the Orange, including a 3-0 decision last season. In games played at Louisville, the Cards own a 3-0-1 series advantage.
SAVING US
Syracuse senior Lysianne Proulx, who led the ACC in total saves a year ago, is back at it again this fall. Proulx leads the league in saves average (10.0) after her outing at PIttsburgh. Proulx accumulated 96 total stops in 2019.
GETTING BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS
Senior Alina Miagkova made her Syracuse debut versus the Panthers on Sept. 17, just three days after returning to the United States from Russia. Miagkova spent the summer in her native country, training with Russia's national team. The pandemic created travel issues for her and she did not set foot back in Syracuse until Sept. 14. She saw action against Pittsburgh in a reserve role.
Syracuse University Athletics remains committed to doing everything it can to support and protect the health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes, our staff and the campus and Syracuse communities. All decisions will be science0based and informed by public health and guidance as provided by county, state and public health officials. If fans are permitted to attend games – in some capacity – Syracuse Athletics will announce plans for spectators to secure admission to the events. Fans will be required to sit in their socially-distanced seat locations and wear a face covering.
