SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse is ranked No. 4 in the Nike/US Lacrosse women's preseason poll released on Wednesday, Jan. 6. The Orange were ranked No. 4 in last season's final poll after recording a 7-1 record.

Syracuse returns all but one student-athlete from a team that ended the shortened 2020 campaign with six consecutive wins. Two of those victories came at No. 6 Northwestern and No. 11 Maryland. The Orange featured the top-ranked defense in the nation, allowing 7.00 goals per game, while goalkeeper Asa Goldstock had the lowest goals-against average (7.07). Offensively, Emily Hawryschuk ranked second nationally in goals (39) and fifth in points (46).

All seven ACC teams are ranked in the preseason poll and claimed three of the top five spots. North Carolina is the preseason No. 1, followed by Notre Dame at No. 2 and Loyola at No. 3. Stony Brook came in at the No. 5 spot.
