Syracuse (4-7-1. 0-5 ACC) concludes a run of three consecutive games versus top four opponents when it hosts #2 Virginia (11-1-1, 4-0-1) on Sunday, Oct. 10, at noon at the SU Soccer Stadium.
The game will be live streamed on ACC Network Extra.
SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse is coming off a 5-0 loss at #1 Florida State on Thursday night.
Virginia's only loss this season was to Penn State, 4-2 in the Virginia Invitational. The Cavs won at Boston College on Thursday, 3-0.
THE SYRACUSE-VIRGINIA SERIES
The Cavaliers have won all six meetings with Syracuse in a series that dates to 2006. Virginia won the most recent match, 5-3, on Nov. 1, 2020.
ROOT STREAK
Senior forward Meghan Root brings a streak of 44 consecutive starts into the Virginia encounter. Her 47 overall starts also rank first on the Orange squad. She's contributed two goals and an assist in 12 games this fall.
VIRGINIA FEATURES SHARP-SHOOTER ORDONEZ
Junior forward Diana Ordonez has accumulated 10 goals and an assist in 13 games for Virginia. Ordonez has posted three multiple-goal games this year. She also owns five game-winning goals.

Orange alumni, fans and friends are invited to share in a year-long celebration of 50 years of Syracuse University women's athletics. Events and special recognition of all female student-athletes who have donned the Block S to represent Syracuse University and the Athletics Department since 1971-72 will be held throughout the 2021-22 seasons. As we celebrate this history, we acknowledge those who have gone before us to set the standard we strive to achieve today so we can pave the way for the future. We reflect on the history of women in sport, admire their sacrifices, recognize their contributions and accomplishments, and honor their legacy.
Kickoff Weekend concludes today. All former student-athletes, fans and friends of Syracuse University Athletics are invited back to campus to begin the celebrate 50 years of women's athletics during multiple events.Â
