Syracuse field hockey senior Laura Graziosi is the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Defensive Player of the Week. It's the second-straight week a member of the Orange roster has earned the honor and the fifth different player from 'Cuse to be named ACC Player of the Week this season.Â
Graziosi's consistency in the midfield helped the No. 7 Orange (10-2, 3-0 ACC) to a 2-0 week at J.S. Coyne Stadium last week. She scored the game-winning penalty stroke with under three minutes to play in a 2-1 win over No. 15 Wake Forest to push the Orange record to a perfect 3-0 in the ACC on Friday night. She scored her second stroke of the weekend in a 3-0 win for 'Cuse over central New York foe Colgate on Sunday afternoon.Â
Graziosi has helped guide the Orange to eight-straight wins. Defensively, Syracuse has allowed just one goal in its last six games and two in its last seven. 'Cuse has seven shutouts on the year and is holding its opponents to 0.83 goals per game and 5-8 shots per game through 12 games.Â
The Orange return to action with a road trip to No. 23 Duke (5-8, 0-4 ACC) on Saturday, Oct. 16. Fans can watch the action live on ACCNX at noon through the ESPN app.Â
