Orange Lose to UNC

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange lost to North Carolina, 3-0, in the Women's Building on Sunday. Junior Marina Markova led the Orange with 14 kills and Abby Casiano contributed six blocks.
"We played good today," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "But we did not play long enough. Yes, we started off well, but got tired too early. It's a mentally taxing game, and especially hard to get back to winning after two hard road losses. It takes a toll on players over time, makes it hard to want to win."
In the first set, Syracuse (14-6 overall, 3-5 ACC) jumped out to a 10-6 lead before the Tar Heels (15-4, 4-4) climbed back to knot the match at 16 and then outscore the Orange 9-6 to win the set, 25-22. In set two, the Orange mounted a late comeback after being down as many as seven points to tie the set at 21, but the Tar Heels closed with four straight points to take a 2-0 advantage in the match. Set three featured 12 tie scores and seven lead changes before UNC took control for a 25-22 win and a 3-0 match victory.

Syracuse is back at home next weekend to host #16 Georgia Tech at 7 PM on Friday, October 22nd. The match will be televised on ACCNX.
