COACH THRASHER-ADAMS ON THE SENIORS:
"I am forever grateful for the love, hard work and commitment each of these seniors has put into the Syracuse Soccer Program. Every single player has had such a unique role and has represented the program with the upmost dignity. It has truly been an honor to coach them, and I have loved every minute being a part of their journey. They all  have great things ahead for them in life."
SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse lost at NC State last Sunday, 3-0. Virginia Tech is on a two-game winning streak that includes home victories against Miami (5-0) and Boston College (1-0).
THE SYRACUSE-VIRGINIA TECHÂ SERIES
Virginia Tech has a 2-5-1 advantage over Syracuse in the all-time series. The two clubs first met in 2001, a game won by the Orange, 1-0 in overtime. The Hokies are unbeaten in the last five matches with Syracuse, winning four and tying one.
The Orange and the Hokies last squared off in 2017 when the two squads played to a 0-0 tie. The series is tied 2-2 in games played in Syracuse.
MACHTENS RETURNS
Freshman midfielder Pauline Machtens has rejoined the Orange after spending last week in Germany as a participant in the U-20 National Team Camp. Machtens added to her already extensive international playing experience with the workout opportunity.
Machtens has had a productive rookie campaign with the Orange. She leads the team in goals (three) and has started all 14 games she has participated in.
TECH FEATURES GOAL-SCORING PACKAGE
Virginia Tech's offense is powered by the trio of Emily Gray, Tori Powell and Nicole Kozlova. Gray, a senior midfielder, has a Hokie-high 11 goals and six assists on the season. Tori Powell, a sophomore forward, and redshirt junior forward Nicole Kozlova have each tallied seven goals this fall.
